who we are

If you’ve wondered how to stand out in an increasingly competitive marketplace, you’ve come to the right place.

Lucky 13 Strategies is a marketing strategy and coaching firm in San Diego, California. We help businesses use smarter communications and coaching sessions to stand out in better ways in this competitive marketplace. As a consulting firm, we bring a completely fresh outside perspective to your marketing, which is often just what you were missing.

Founder Lilly Ghahremani JD, MBA is a recovering attorney who now “uses her powers for good” (don’t worry, she got an MBA for good measure.) Together, we will build a case for your business. Whether you want a written marketing strategy or personal coaching, we will blaze a path to securing your hold on your market.

What types of businesses do we work with? To date, we have worked with technology and healthcare companies and medical practices, law firms, financial organizations, real estate agents, fitness companies, local mom and pop businesses, nonprofits, authors and artists and many more. You name it, we’ve done it. But we always welcome a new challenge.

Lilly has over twenty years’ experience branding, marketing and promoting businesses just like yours.

Lilly Ghahremani founded Lucky 13 when she realized that, while big corporations have all the marketing help they could hope for, the companies that need it most – startups, nonprofits and smaller businesses – were at a disadvantage. So she did what any mildly insane person would do: she resigned as the Chief Marketing Officer of a large holding corporation where she was overseeing the daily marketing needs of 35+ companies. She started Lucky 13 Strategies and never looked back.

Lilly takes a hands-on approach to working with clients, giving them direct access to the communications strategies and tactics they were previously missing. We customize a handpicked team of our collaborators to deliver the marketing projects you may need. You’ll always work directly with us or our extended family of vetted partners and friends including the most talented (and easy to work with) print and web designers, WordPress web developers, photographers and videographers, animators, printers, social media managers and more.  Lilly’s personal approach to marketing consulting is something clients love and return for. Businesses that work with Lucky 13 feel immediately supported and energized about their marketing opportunities going forward.

Lilly holds an MBA from San Diego State University’s School of Business, a Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law, and a BA from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Go Blue!) Yes, she passed the California bar. Yes, the first time. And no, she won’t get mad if you tell her a lawyer joke– but she may steal it.

She enjoys public speaking and has a featured speaker at Proctor Gallagher Institute’s Matrixx event in Toronto, Women in the Channel, and numerous other media conferences nationwide. She previously sat on the Board of Directors of the Irlen Syndrome Foundation, the Washington Board for Gift of Adoption, worked with Real Medicine Foundation, and was an advisor to KPBS on its Emerging Leaders initiative, in addition to her ongoing charity work with others.

She is also the Co-founder of Full Circle Literary, a boutique literary agency created in 2004. There, she uses her marketing prowess as a literary agent, representing and brokering publishing deals for authors and illustrators of adult and children’s books with the biggest publishing houses nationwide, including PenguinRandomHouse, Simon & Schuster, Hachette, Macmillan, and HarperCollins. To date, her clientele has included a NY Times Bestseller, a USA Today Bestseller, a Pulitzer Prize winner, an Emmy Award winner, and more.

Although Lilly has yet to write her own marketing tell-all, she authored a column about communication for the glossy ZAN Magazine. You can read her SD Voyager interview here.

When she’s not helping you market the hell out of your business, you’ll find Lilly traveling the world, curled up with one of the too-many books she’s reading at any given time, pushing her physical limits with the newest workout trend, or drinking coffee. Always with the coffee.

She looks forward to meeting you!
